I hope you guys can get me out of the dog house, and not into the loony bin.
Last night I insisted that Julie Kavner had a spinoff from Rhoda, called "Brenda." I was called on it, and have found absolutely no evidence to support my assertion. I remember it vividly, and I remember it being really bad.
Do any of you remember such a thing? Why doesn't imdb say anything about it?
Am I thinking of a single episode of Rhoda, called "It's all about Brenda?" Was it like a fake-show within a show, or was it intended to be a pilot?
Tell me I'm not crazy, please. Thanks for any insight.

Re: Anybody remember "Brenda?"
Fri, September 28, 2007 - 6:49 PMYes, there was a show about Brenda!!! I totally remember it. She had her own apartment, and the "big thing" about her was that she had lost weight. I think the show focused on dating. Rhoda made a couple of appearances, as I imagine Nancy Walker did too (but I dont' remember). Cheryl - no, you are not crazy !!!!!!!

I KNOW! That's what's driving me crazy. Is that because IMDB is the Internet *Movie* Database? Could they be missing some TV shows? But I can't find reference to it ANYWHERE, which seems really odd.
I'm so thankful some of you said you remembered it. You're anonymous opinions seem to carry more weight with my friends than mine, but only slightly. I still need to find it on some credible reference site. My reputation as a vid-kid is at steak. -

Re: Anybody remember "Brenda?"
Tue, October 30, 2007 - 1:00 AM"Third Season (1976-77)
During the first two seasons, television audiences seemed to be satisfied with the direction the show was taking. However, the producers found it difficult to write scripts featuring a happily married Rhoda, often writing shows around Brenda's problems instead, including her on-again, off-again relationship with accordion player Nick Lobo (Richard Masur). Eventually, they came to the conclusion that Rhoda's appeal came from her status as an insecure single woman."

Also you can view the episode description (short) and see a picture. Here on the last page were two Brenda-type episodes of Rhoda:

It appears there is a complete DVD release, but it's not available right now on Amazon, here it is on another site (I have no experience with this site, it just came up in the search):
