I just picked up the first 6 episodes of Space 1999.
...I never realized how little it took to captivate a child in the 70's. O never realized how horrific the acting really was.

Re: Space 1999
Wed, August 10, 2005 - 3:22 AMI used to freak out watching that show as a child. Watching that chick with the bizarre eyebrows morph into a space monster - really tripped me out. -

Wed, August 10, 2005 - 9:28 AMSame here, though I was just hitting puberty when I saw it and I thought she was sexy as hell. I lost interested in it after a while though. The plots just got weirder and weirder. -

Re: Space 1999
Wed, August 10, 2005 - 12:39 PMThe lunch box was actually better than the acting though seeing it on TV in Germany was pretty fun.
When I saw Battlestar Galactica for the first time in ages about a year ago, I about puked from laughing so hard-the opening sequence alone is one of the cheesiest things EVER to grace network TV- 'The Daggit' especially ROTFLMAO!!! -

Tue, September 13, 2005 - 11:02 AMHey! How about the possibility of a Space: 1999 tribe? If there's enough interest (among three or more people), I'll start one. -

Re: Space 1999
Sun, November 6, 2005 - 1:40 AMYes acting was bad but what a great show. Some of the scripts were brilliant especially those written by Johnny Byrne.
By the way, In the UK, one week from now, the entire first series of 24 episodes will be re-released with a ton of extras and a completely revamp picture quality. -

Re: Space 1999
Wed, August 16, 2006 - 12:39 PMYou can revamp the picture quality, but not the acting quality. Or the sets. This show is ripe for a remake.
OR... I think they could do a satisfying miniseries of Red Mars, Blue Mars, Green Mars, and I'd get my fix of soap operatic enclosed spaces. -

Re: Space 1999
Mon, April 23, 2007 - 8:07 AMThe opening title of this show looked so cool, it looked like it would be exciting, with tons of action.
This show was like science-fiction in molasses!
It used to be on a local station on Sunday nights back in the mid-70's when I was kid. In those days Sunday nights were the worst for kids as far as t.v. shows went. We'd watch this show because it was the only thing on. You'd feel like you wanted to fall asleep, or cry watching this show!! The combination of Martin Landau, Barbara Bain and Barry Morse was torture to sit through.
Maya was the ONLY good eliment in this show.
